The Rochambeau Chapter organizes each year : quarterly meetings, an annual dinner or luncheon, and an informal reception for new members.
The chapter also participates in numerous activities in and around Paris, throughout the year, from the commemoration ceremonies for Memorial Day (the last Sunday in May) and Independence Day (July 4), to lectures on historical figures and events, and visits of historical and cultural landmarks.
Special projects are organized from time to time. Recent examples are a four-day event in April 2003 to celebrate the bicentennial of the purchase of Louisiana in 1803 by the United States Government from Napoleon Bonaparte; a first gathering of DAR European chapters in 2004; a trip to the United States, in October 2006, to join in the inaugural celebrations of the Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route (W3R), as well as the 225th anniversary of Yorktown. In 2008, chapter members joined together with the Sons of the American Revolution in France to commemorate the 225th anniversary of the signing of the Treaties of Paris and Versailles. Joining in this important week-long event (September 1 - 5), in particular, were the President General of the NSDAR, Linda Calvin, as well as many DAR members visiting from chapters throughout the United States.
The chapter publishes a bilingual newsletter twice a year for its members and associate members.
The chapter actively promotes the Royal Auvergne Society of the C.A.R. (Children of the American Revolution), and also sponsors its website.
A number of cultural exchanges are also organized during the year with the Sons of the American Revolution and the Cincinnati Society in France.
In the United States, the chapter supports NSDAR activities and also participates in special projects, from time to time. For example, in solidarity with the victims of the 2005 hurricane disasters in Louisiana, the DAR and C.A.R. in France joined together to make an exceptional gift to purchase bilingual manuals and books for primary schools in the New Orleans area.
In France, the Rochambeau Chapter is a member of the American Overseas Memorial Day Association and also actively supports the National Museum of French-American Cooperation at Blerancourt.
